What will you learn, see, and discover during your trip around the south of Spain:
This Travel and Study Andalusia program is a great opportunity to improve your communication skills in Spanish and to discover probably the most colorful region of Spain: Andalusia. The itinerary is designed for you to see the most important places of interest in the southern part of the country, and to let you know its history, culture, and true spirit.
The clear advantage of this program is that your Spanish teacher is traveling with you! It’s like having your private tourist guide 24/7. Whatever catches your attention, whatever doubt comes across your mind, you can resolve it directly.
- The travel adventure begins on Saturday morning in Madrid. From here, the students and their teacher head to the south of Spain on a comfortable minibus with a professional driver. The first stop is located within a 1.5-hour drive: Consuegra. Located in the province of Toledo, Castilla La Mancha, Consuegra is famous for its extensive vineyards and historical windmills that inspired Miguel de Cervantes for his Don Quixote. After a half-day excursion around the village, students will get back on the bus for a 3-hour drive to their next destination: Cordoba. Here we will spend our first night.
- Cordoba, the capital of the province of Córdoba, has lived an intense life: it was a Roman settlement (a bridge from this era still remains), then it was taken by Visigoths, followed by Muslim conquests over some centuries.
After a typical Spanish breakfast, we will go for a walking tour around the city. We will visit the famous Mosque-Cathedral of Cordoba, a place that will surely leave no one indifferent by its beauty and the whole idea behind it! After lunch, we will discover the beautiful patios decorated with flowers all year round!
- We head for Seville, the capital of Andalusia! As many Spaniards say, those who haven’t seen Seville, haven’t seen the miracle. Seville is an extremely beautiful city, it has the largest best-preserved historic center in Europe, the third-largest gothic Cathedral in the world, the Real Alcazar, and the charm of its locals. We will spend two days in this treasure trove. On this day, we will walk around the winding streets of the Jewish district, visit the Cathedral and take a bicycle tour in the city center. And of course, we will enjoy a glass of red wine and the amazing night views from one of its terraces!
- We delve into the treasures of Seville: Today we will visit the real Alcazar, the Roman ruins, where ancient gladiator fights used to take place. Indeed, you will see the plaque with Marcus Aurelius’ speech engraved on it. In the evening, we will hop on our bus and continue to Malaga.
- Malaga is the second-most-populous city in Andalusia, and one of the largest European ports. Nowadays, Malaga is famous for its vast cultural offer for tourists. In the morning we will visit the Picasso museum, and will devote the afternoon to enjoying the beautiful Costa del Sol.
- Today we depart for Granada, our last highlight of the trip. In Granada, you will inevitably notice the Arabic flair, as it was the last city to be reconquered by the Christians. Here, we will enjoy a Flamenco performance during dinner.
- Time to say good-bye! This is the last day of our Southern Spain adventure. We will visit the famous Alhambra and the Albaicín neighborhood before taking the bus back to Madrid.
